Yes and No, first you must ask yourself the question, what is a café bike? pronounced "kaff" like caffeine, not "café" like a French café. The original café bikes from the late 50's early 60's were standard motorcycles that were stripped down to the absolute bare minimum and built to utilize the most amount of power efficiently possible from the small single or vertical twin cylinder engines. They were made for one thing, the ton. That means 100mph. Many people call them café bikes because if the historical aspect of the racers in the 50/60's gathering at coffee shops along routes that they typically raced on the weekends. these bike are the true "race" bike. All modern day race machines are a derivative of these early racers. The modern variation of the "café" bike is farther from an actual café bike then your "crotch rocket" is. Yes it may look like one of the old café style bikes but in reality unless you're going to cut half the frame off of it and strip it down to nothing but a seat, tank and a motor, it's not really a café bike. So the next time you see Joe Bob flannel boy on his hipstercycle at least you'll know you're more historically accurate than he is.
